What is the U-value of my Home?

A U-value is a measurement of how well a material will keep your home is insulated - the lower the U-value, then the better that insulation is at keeping heat in the room or building it is supposed to. A high U-value means that heat is escaping through the material, and out of the room and your home, meaning it will cost you a lot more to keep your house heated to the temperature you want.

You can calculate a U-value using Kingspan's helpful U-value calculator.

As an example, the latest Building Regulations require New Build houses to have the following U-values:

External walls: 0.18
Floors: 0.13
Roofs: 0.13
Windows: 1.4
Doors: 1.0
Semi-glazed doors: 1.2
